Arts, Culture & Fun: Conversation Series

Date: December 2, 2016

Jessica Kratz will perform thought provoking spoken word with her inspirational infectious energy. Jessica has published two childrens' books The Lucky Lighthouse and Sleigh Bells in Springtime: Frogs Calling. She won Best Artist-Written 2016 in the Reader's Choice poll of Staten Island Advance. Jessica is the Coordinator of the Greenbelt Nature Center.

Live musical performance will be provided by All Hands on Deck, a New York based band who found their own niche in what they call FOLK GROOVE, using diverse rhythms, interesting instrument combinations, rich with acoustic guitar and violin virtuosity. They were awarded the 2016 Award of Excellence in the ARTS for their original song titled, UNIVERSAL LULLABY, which was released on their first CD debut 'ALL HANDS ON DECK:KYO' (Japanese Character for Sound).

A local visual artist will showcase their work during the event.

Staten Island Arts’ Culture Lounge at the St. George Ferry Terminal is a meeting place and project space. Culture Lounge exhibits both international and local artists, including visual artists, poets, musicians, writers, and performers. The focus is on artistic projects that are place-based–examining local communities, helping people consider their environs in new ways, exploring how neighborhoods might be more livable and sustainable, and/or creating ways visitors can become more socially engaged.
